Cultural Diversity- Good or Bad?

Cultural Diversity- 'Identity Crisis'!

Howdy Friends😀 Today, my post will focus on a significant aspect of my life - 'Culture'

As a person, I've grown up in a very culturally diverse environment. I was born in Pakistan but lived in the United Arab Emirates for a span of 15 years. Living in the UAE enabled me to get familiar with different cultural practices. For instance, despite of being a Pakistani, I seldom attired in beautiful Arabic clothes and absolutely loved eating the traditional middle-eastern cuisine. The falafel and the shawarma are definitely drool-worthy and mouth-watering. Moreover, I had a lot of Indian friends at school, which helped me to comprehend some aspects of the Indian culture as well. I enjoyed eating tangy indian snacks and found the Indian cuisine quiet self-indulging. Living in Dubai also gave me the pleasant opportunity to socialize and interact with people from different nationalities. This helped to enhance my knowledge about different traditions and made me feel more comfortable and delightful in my society.

At times, people complain that our generation is suffering from a major identity crisis and many of us fail to sense a belonging or a connection to a particular place. Some also claim that most  of our cultural practices are not preserved and serve  as a victim to heavy foreign influence. In fact, we all are so deeply involved into different cultural practices that we fail to identify ourselves to just one of them but in turn form a bond with all of them. 'Identity crisis' is recognized as something negative in our society  as it is said to suppress our personality in the long run.

However, let's look at the flip side of the coin. Growing up in a multicultural environment helped me to experience a blend of cultures and get the knack of each and everyone of them. Different cultures help to familiarize you with unique and distinct worldly traditions and practices . In turn, it increases your knowledge and socialization and makes you more confident about your surroundings. It's always beneficial to be aware of what's happening around you. In that way, you will learn to relish every minute of life and become more willing to anticipate positive changes to your world. If you are familiar with different ways of living, then you are more likely to adopt the positive aspects of a culture and integrate them in your own household.

When you become an adult  and step into a world of professionals, a brief understanding of the world will help to build up your personality and make you seem as a more intellectual and an assertive person. It will also enable you to blend into the environment with ease. Hence, I feel extremely lucky and privileged to grow up in an environment bounded with so many different cultures.

"Culture does not necessarily have to define who you are, but it does build up your personality and decide what aspects to incorporate in one's life"

The Bold and The Beautiful💛

Hey everyone :) So, this is another one of  my creative writing pieces which I would like to share with all of you! The poem deals with how a 'perfect girl' does not really exist in reality.  Constructive feedback will be widely appreciated. Have a good read.

The Bold and the Beautiful 🍓

As she walked into the boisterous crowd,
Her luxuriant hair tied up neatly to a place
With beauty galore all around,
She filled the site with funk and grace.

Her alluring looks defined her aesthetic ways
With poise and aplomb, she stood strong in her place
The bold and the beautiful person she was,
One could fall in love with her at the first glance

Dancing vehemently in the horde,
She left all the spectators enthralled and in awe
Her twinkling eyes expressed her glee
Her distinctive face filled the atmosphere wish sheer ecstasy.

Her strong demeanor captured millions of hearts
Her sensuous appeal seemed like a piece of divine art
Her unconditional beauty left everyone spell bound
So immensely sublime, pragmatic and profound

Her Assertive eyes blurted a stream of confidence
And Spontaneous moves revealed joy and grace
A perfect amalgamation of beauty and brains
She surely made my youthful heart race

As I slowly walked towards her
Wishing to embrace my love with open arms
A drop of sunlight, woke me up from my everlasting sleep
She wasn't reality, but a soulful dream

Say NO to Addiction

The Demons of My mind - Poem

Hey Friends(:  So, I really wanna share with you a piece of poetry that I wrote as a part of my Psychology assignment on Mental Disorders.. The poem deals with the undesirable consequences of 'Addicton'! Constructive feedback will be appreciated. Have a great day. (:

THE Demons of My Mind!

When I close my eyes
Trying to analyze the pain deep inside
It takes immense strength and courage
To set all the outwardly things right

Situations have become bizarre
I have devils residing in my mind
My world has become an illusion
Things are difficult to leave behind

A glimpse of myself in the mirror
Truly leaves me ashamed at what I have become
The demons harm my identity
Making me cranky, depressed and glum

They stealthily haste towards me
And laugh at my abrupt condition
They leave me whining in desperation
To pain and alcohol , I have adhered

I try my best to become as perfect as I can.
With power and faith , I attempt to resent
But these demons,  immerse me in my  heart-rending sorrows
Making me realize, that I need a doctor's help

I dwell in a parallel universe
Where darkness overshadows the light
Sufferings have increased,
My life is filled with sheer displeasure and fright

I embraced addiction, with a spark of happiness and joy
Unaware that one day, it will  leave me alone to destroy
It made Me a cold blooded animal bounded with treachery and greed
A self- created maestro, of thy evil deeds.

 Lonely and indebted
I seldom cry fiercely to myself
Deprived of love and tranquility
I am an unfortunate victim of my own ruthless self

I once used to be a, charming young lad
Down the lane, from south
But now, my teeth are rotten
I have become outrageously hideous and stout.

Most of my memories have been eradicated
I've lost all my dear ones
I am stuck in a hell with these callous monsters .
But through psychotherapy , they will shun

My soul is numb with fear and revulsion
Doctors claim that I need to go to rehab.
However,  I have decided to struggle till the end.
Until I get all my beloved back

No more weaknesses left,  I have become strong
Now, these unforgiving demons will be proved wrong
With strength and resilience,  I will take back my love, life and soul
They will have to return to me all the precious things they stole

The Exam foodie!

Treat yourself to some self-indulging sugary foods at times. Sugar helps to function our brains faster and keeps us happy and enthusiastic at all times(:
On the other hand, chocolates are always delicious to taste and never fail to enlighten our mood.
Smoothies can make our mind feel more refreshing, energetic and will enable us to welcome greater amounts of information! It's a healthy and a mouthwatering drink at the same time :)

What time is it? Exam time!

Ola friendssss 💛
As exams approach, many of us are bounded by hard studying schedules and are absolutely immersed into heaps of information. In fact, most of us are sleep deprived and are witnessing the formation of huge dark circles under our eyes. However, it is very important for each one of us to look after ourselves and ensure that we all are doing well. Confidence is one aspect that will enable us to become successful in our examinations. If we fail to strive for self esteem, then we may lose the confidence in our work.
So friends,  follow these simple exam writing tips and prepare yourself for a short, stressing journey(:

1. Break down your study time into half hour- 1 hour breaks. Cramming your work together and studying the night before exams  doesn't really help! So keep a check on your organization skills

2. If all the information tends to get too overwhelming, rest your mind for a bit. Then find yourself an empty corner, which is far away from any distractions. And don't let your studying get disrupted because of anything. This means no use of social media, no mobile phone or no tv.  Our brain cannot absorb too much in one go.

3. Make sure that you get adequate amounts of sleep. Pulling all-nighters may not always help. Our brain needs proper rest in order to function well.

4. Wear comfortable clothing while studying. Rummage through your closet,  to find a suitable pair of pyjamas and a loose shirt. Always keep comfort and convenience in mind while studying.

5. Never compromise on your eating habits while studying. Our body and brain need the correct amount of energy supply and nutrients to take in all the information. Depriving yourself from food will only result in your mind becoming more depressed and weaker.

6. Half an hour before exams start, keep your study notes aside and rest your brain for a while. Re-reading the information again and again, will only agitate your mind and make you forget all what your have learnt. A calmer mind will enable a wide array of ideas to flow through your brain.

Make sure you follow these tips and good luck for your exams :) Ace them

Welcoming 2014💚

A short poem dedicated to  the new year by Rameen Tariq..

The new year is here
Bringing hope, tranquility and lots of fervor.
Encouraging love, humility and exciting memories to endear.

The new year is here.
Giving rise to hope, peace and glory galore.
Motivating people to venture into the world and explore.

The new year is here
With opportunities and chances like never before
Teaching everyone to learn to forgive, move forward and love to the core.

Let all your frustrations drown and fade.
All the excitement which lies ahead will leave you amazed .
To hope, peace and joy one should adhere.
And I wish you a very Happy New year😘
